Nick Taylor
Veterinarian
and veterinary epidemiologist
SPECIALISATION:
Mr
Taylor is a PAN Livestock Services consultant and a member of the Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics Research Unit
(VEERU) of The University of Reading. He is a veterinarian with
broad experience of veterinary epidemiology and livestock production,
particularly in Turkey,
Oman, Bangladesh, Tanzania and the UK. He co-ordinates VEERU’s courses in Veterinary Epidemiology and lectures in
veterinary epidemiology and simulation modelling.
Mr
Taylor recently completed four years working within the Turkish Ministry
of Agriculture developing an epidemiology and decision support unit.
This unit is providing essential information to assist the process of
restructuring in the state veterinary service by identifying which
disease control activities are suitable for privatisation and which
should remain as functions of the government service.
During
his time in Turkey Mr Taylor was involved in a regional epidemiology
conference for state veterinarians from CIS and Middle East countries,
including Turkmenistan.
Recently,
Mr Taylor has played an important role as an epidemiologist in the
control of the foot-and-mouth outbreak in UK.
Mr
Taylor has extensive expertise in the combination of veterinary
epidemiology and economics. He has considerable skills in the
development of information systems that collect and analyse data from a
range of livestock systems in various countries.
